Our story

Your kitchen deserves
tools that last a lifetime.

We started Teak & Grain because we were tired of replacing plastic spatulas, warped boards, and cheap utensils that ended up in landfill. There had to be a better way — and there was. It just took a few thousand years to perfect.

Why we exist

The average kitchen
is full of plastic.
Ours doesn't have to be.

Walk into any kitchen store and you'll find the same thing — aisle after aisle of plastic, silicone, and nylon. Tools that scratch non-stick pans, shed microplastics into your food, and end up in a landfill inside two years.

We asked a simple question: what did kitchens look like before plastic existed? The answer led us to teak — a wood so naturally resilient, antibacterial, and beautiful that it's been used in the world's finest kitchens for centuries. We just had to bring it back.

Teak & Grain exists to give you tools that belong in your kitchen for decades — not months. Pieces you'll pass down, not throw out.

The problem with plastic
Plastic cutting boards develop deep knife grooves that harbour bacteria. Plastic utensils melt, warp, and shed microplastics directly into your food at cooking temperatures.
The teak difference
Teak's dense grain, natural oils, and end-grain construction make it self-healing, naturally antibacterial, and tough enough to outlast any plastic alternative by decades.
One decision, decades of use
Every piece we sell is designed to be the last one you ever buy. That's not a marketing line — it's the standard we hold ourselves to with every product we make.

The journey

From plantation to
your kitchen counter.

We believe you should know exactly where your tools come from and how they're made. So here it is — every step, nothing hidden.

01
Grown in managed plantations
Teak is planted and cultivated in sustainable plantation forests across South & Southeast Asia — no old-growth forest, no deforestation.
02
Harvested & slow-dried
Logs are harvested at peak maturity, then slow-dried to reduce moisture and prevent cracking — a process that can take several months.
03
Cut to specification
For the cutting board, wood is cut and oriented end-grain — the most labour-intensive cut, but the only one that produces a self-healing surface.
04
Handcrafted & finished
Each piece is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand with food-safe oil. No two pieces are identical — the grain pattern on every board is unique.
05
Ships to your kitchen
Packed carefully and shipped within 1–2 business days. From the plantation to your counter — every step traceable, every choice intentional.

Why it matters

Transparency isn't a feature.
It's the foundation.

Anyone can say their products are sustainable. We'd rather show you. Every step of our supply chain is chosen deliberately — because the way a product is made is just as important as what it does in your kitchen.

Quality without compromise
Every product we sell is something we'd use in our own kitchen. If we wouldn't put it on our own counter, it doesn't make the cut. Full stop.
Responsibly sourced
Our teak comes from plantation forests — fully traceable, sustainably managed, and replanted after every harvest. Beautiful products don't have to cost the planet.
30-day risk-free trial
We're confident you'll love it — so we give you 30 days to test it in your kitchen. If you don't love it, return it for a full refund. No questions, no fees.

Good tools make cooking
feel different.
We built ours to prove it.

The first time you prep a meal on a board that doesn't slip, stir with a spoon that feels like it was made for your hand, and reach for tools that look as good as they work — you'll understand what we mean. That's the Teak & Grain experience. And it starts with one decision.
